Breast cancer has been a cancer that's always been in the public eye. You constantly see fund raisers and support groups on it, so it's a very well known cancer. And like any cancer years have been spent trying to come up with the cure for it. Much research and many tests have been done to see what are all the causes of this disease. We know it's chemicals, but we want to narrow it down to a few and not simply every chemical that exists. Some have found links to connect the cancer with the banned pesticide DDT, but experts from the American Cancer Society have claimed to find nothing in common with that pesticide to breast cancer. Another possible link was found by an institute of the National Academies of Science which include common ingredients of vehicle exhaust, benzene and 1,3 – butadience. But the main chemicals that seem to be in the picture are pesticides, ingredients of cosmetics and bisphenol A (BPA). Their focus is around chemicals because a lot of the time women who are diagnosed with breast cancer did not inherit it from a family member and if they did scientists want to know where did they get it. Since there is so much toxicity in our air nowadays it makes sense to believe that these chemicals we are surrounded by daily are the cause to all these different types of cancers.
I came across this article and the topic interested me because I believe that the air that surrounds us is the cause of some if not all cancers that exist. With all these corporations building bigger businesses it creates more pollution in the atmosphere which affects us because it's the air we breathe. Another thing that bothers me is how many toxic chemicals are used to create the products we use everyday. We are exposed daily to all these toxins. It's a no brainier that they are harming us, they are called toxic for a reason. Cancer is nothing like the flu it's a deadly disease that in the near future will probably be one of the top ways to die.
This article is not just to inform the public about how the process is going to find a cure for breast cancer, but to inform how much of an effect these chemicals that are around us have on humans. People should become more aware of what exactly goes into their clothing, furniture, toiletry products and start speaking up. It's scary to think that 1 out of 8 people are diagnosed with breast cancer. The percentage for over all cancer is probably higher. I want to live a full healthy life; come down with a cold, okay, but not be diagnosed with cancer.
